Happiness!

As I sit here thinking about my To Do List for the day, I can’t help but wonder about the meaning of happiness. The dictionary defines happiness as the quality or state of being happy. In addition, it also says good fortune, pleasure, contentment and joy. This is fascinating to me because the words used here to define happiness are themselves states of being. But what are they based in. These words and their meanings are relative. One can be content with living under a bridge somewhere. One can get joy from hurting animals. One can have good fortune at the expense of someone else’s misfortune. So I say this, happiness itself is also relative. Just some food for thought today. Stay Tuned.

  1. I agree. Being happy and being content are not always the same thing. Being content with some thing or situation implies a certain level or peace or acceptance. I could be content living in my one room shack, but I don't have to be happy about it. The reverse is also true. I could happy living in a mansion with all the trappings of wealth, but I can be discontent as well. Look at all the well-to-do people who piss away their seemingly good lives due to being discontent. "I wanna be a billionaire so freakin' bad".
