Today's work is over. It was my first "official day" at the new site. I'm still with the same agency, Jericho Project. They have truly been good to me during this journey of graduate school. Now with that chapter closed I start a new chapter in a new building working with veterans. This is a new challenge but I'm open for it. I believe in this work. There should never be any such person as a homeless veteran. It's ridiculous. I'm prepared for this new endeavor. Working at a new site comes with its moments. Meeting new people, new personalities, new atmosphere. It's like being in a spin-off show. I feel like George Jefferson, moving from All In The Family to a "deluxe apartment in the sky." I don't know what the future holds but I do know who holds the future.

Crying!!!
Should I be angry at the little girl crying her face off on the bus this morning or her mother for not getting off the bus? I'm trying to get to work this morning. This baby is literally crying her face off. I can see it. She is one unhappy child right now. She has no words yet. If she did I know she would tell her mommy to get the f#*@ off this bus & let's figure out what's wrong outside this confined space. Sorry parents but I'm just saying.

Courage.
When you pray for courage, GOD doesn't just give you courage. He gives you the opportunity to be courageous.

Probation in Relationships?
When starting a new job, new employees are expected to pass a probationary period. At the end of that probationary period an evaluation is conducted. This evaluation is an appraisal of whether or not the employee accomplished the goals set forth by the company using the skill sets they presented during the interviewing process, At the end of the evaluation, it is determined that there are 3 outcome options. First is an extension of probation. This is due to the employee needing more time to show the company that they are committed to being a great asset to said company. Second is passing probation. Now the employee has shown the company they are serious about potential expansion and becoming mutually successful. The third option is the employee being fired. This occurs because the employee has not proven themselves worthy or able to succeed with the company. This is based on their actions including the interviewing process. The employee’s lack of commitment to the company, not meeting deadlines on time, even going as far as being disrespectful towards the company. I say all of this to ask one question. Why don’t we adopt this practice when it comes to our relationships?

ABC's new show "Work It" is NOT working!!
This is my first post in the New Year. I was slacking off here but I had other things to tend to, namely my education. That brings me to the topic for today. I came across this new show on ABC called “Work It.” At first I thought it was just going to be another show with a man acting silly and odd while dressed as a woman. I was wrong. IT IS WORSE. This show decided they thought it would be funny to make awful derogatory and offensive jokes at the expense of women and Latinos, specifically victims of rape and Puerto Ricans. I had no intention of seeing the fake reboot of “Bosom Buddies” mixed with “Tootsie.” I saw a friend on Facebook describing a protest in time square near ABC studios and I thought it might have to do with this new show. I looked up the show and saw it has been getting VERY POOR reviews. Good!! I’m glad they are getting such terrible reviews. The “humor” they decided to write and produce is atrocious. The first offensive joke that had me shaking my head in disgust was when the wife on the show told her husband to stop comparing a prostate exam to the pinball machine scene in the film “The Accused.” That film was about a woman being gang raped on a pinball machine in a bar. I could not believe that writers and producers thought that was funny. The second joke that had me sick to my stomach in 2012 was when the main character tells his Latino friend. Angel, about his new job as a pharmaceutical rep and Angel proceeds to say. “I’m Puerto Rican, I can sell drugs.” WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! I could not believe it. Oh did I mention that Angel speaks with an accent. Not necessary and insulting. This show needs to be taken off the air ASAP and ABC should be ashamed of themselves. I think the actors should also be ashamed of themselves. I am disturbed by this. I am going to blog about this, tweet about this and post on Facebook and anyplace else I can find that is willing to listen. Our society has to stop thinking it’s funny to disrespect and stereotype people, all for a laugh. It’s not worth it. Let’s get creative people.
